A well established and family-run convenience store in Chorley has sold to an experienced operator after a sale was agreed in just six weeks.
Makinsons Superstore has been family owned for the past four decades in the popular Lancashire town of Chorley. This heavily relied upon business has forged strong relationships within the community during that time, boasting an extensive and loyal customer base.
The owners, Mr and Mrs Makinson instructed Kings Business to sell due to seeking retirement. The business was on the market for less than six weeks when the sale was agreed, receiving three viewings and two offers.
The bespoke marketing campaign highlighted the visible and substantial corner shop premises that provide a deceptively spacious ground-floor retail space, with living accommodation to the first floor. The store occupies an ideal position on a busy main road at the heart of a densely populated residential area.
The successful buyer, Mr Khan, was attracted to the business due to the prime location, potential for growth through extending opening hours, and the support and loyalty from the community.
Mr Khan owns several other convenience stores, newsagents, and off licences. He intends to grow and expand Makinsons Superstore by renovating the premises and incorporating an off-licence.
The vendors, Mr and Mrs Makinson said “We had excellent dealings with Kings and the speed of the sale achieved despite the pandemic. We needed to retire, having been at the shop for over 40 years. We now look forward to some well deserved time to ourselves and with our family and grandchildren. Thank you Lauren for your hard work, we could see you put considerable time and effort into chasing our sale.”
Mr Khan, the buyer said, “I was pleased with my experience with Kings Business, who were helpful and quick to respond when needed. I received a good level of service from start to finish. I am looking forward to starting a new venture and growing the store.”
Sales Negotiator, Lauren Lees added “I am pleased for our vendors that we have sold their business, and I wish them the best of luck with their well-deserved retirement. I know the community will miss them, given the heartfelt send-off they have received this week. Congratulations to the new owner. He has a challenge now with getting the shop renovated, which will take some time, but he has the knowledge and experience, and we wish him the best of luck in his new venture.”
